| so the people that use to live in our house are (no, they r not ghost) seemingly hardcore religious. we're always getting church newsletters, christian catalogs, and we also get a lot of meat catalogs (correlation?) addressed to the husband/boyfriend/stepdad character. today, well, today we got the piece de resistance, the motherload of christian commercialism. it's a catalog called:
A VISION OF VICTORY: The Vision Forum Family Catalog 1998-2008(it's pretty presumptuous to already include the 2008. maybe they're so christian that they're psychic!) at first the nerd in me was excited because it looked like a school catalog of educational and historical books, cd's, dvd's, and toys with norman rockwell-like illustrations. being a fan of the LDS church, i wasn't even turned off by the conservatively dressed photographs and family emphasis tone. having been brainwashed as a child by the post-communist culture of the motherland: a combination of confucism and maoism, i'm also not opposed to filial piety, strength of character, soundness of mind, or even moral propaganda! then i read the product descriptions. the topics span from the epic to the absurd: - Women of Vision

All as testimony to omnipresence of god and oh of course, his dominion. everyday life is apparently a constant battle/struggle/war and dominion (what that means) must be had through the stringing together of a lot of unrelated vague words, like entreprenurial hospitality and cultural evangalism. the books and videos come with glowing endorsements and anecdotes from various members of the phillips family, whose patriarch is the president and founder.

i view religion as cortico-steroids on the cancers of society. it's doesn't cure the disease and it has a lot of unsavory side effects, but it can give strength to the weak to fight the symptoms. but this! this is...SCARY. i shouldn't be surprised i guess...god bless us all!

| how exciting. it's been .5 yrs since my last post. and i must admit this is a selfish occasion. i am trying to gain momentum for my other blog  : Oh!Snap - Eye On Fashion.
(now that i think about, i don't even know why i didn't just use this blog. who understands the weak of mind! i guess the last time i really explored xanga, it didn't have the capabilities necessary for a professional blog. but i'm sure the times, they have changed. i still heart u xanga bc u were my first blog. and i will try to write more here. i definitely have views slightly on the side of inflammatory that i should prob keep to my personal blog... and who knows what the future may hold for u, xanga.)
well, irregardless, Oh!Snap - Eye On Fashion is and will be a delightful take on all things fashion and all things fashionable. i plan on tackling the serious issues of shopping, fashion trends, designer gossip, and model bmi indexes. i'm also doing a recap here and there: Recap: The Hills (Episode 311) - No More Mr. Nice Guy. i couldn't help myself. i just haven't been able to find a consistently funny recap for this show, and hey! it's fashion RELATED!

how many ppl die everyday all over the world? due to greed of others, wrongplace/wrongtime, war, hunger, disease...i'm not getting the kids outta bed for 33. have a little perspective. so when ppl sit there, praying in their little church pews and emitting carbon monoxide with their candlelight vigils, asking WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO PREVENT THIS???? this is what i say: WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO PREVENT ANYTHING? HOW ABOUT DEATHS OF MUCH LARGER TOLLS AND BRUTALITY? LET THIS BE A WAKE UP CALL TO YOU. THIS QUESTION CAN BE THE FIRST STEP FOR YOU TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE FROM A SELF CENTERED MATERIALISTIC AMERICAN TO SOMEONE WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT THE WORLD AROUND HIM.
